It is the goal of Covington County Schools Child Nutrition Program to provide a variety of healthy choices daily for breakfast and lunch that meet your child's nutritional needs for growth, development, and learning.  We wish to extend to your child a warm welcome to join us for both breakfast and lunch each school day.  Monthly menus are planned centrally in accordance with federal guidelines and distributed to each school site.  Not only do we take care in providing meal choices that offer nutritional balance, but you can also be assured that food safety practices are a part of our everyday lives in the school nutrition program.

For your convenience, each school has an automated system to track the payment and purchasing activity of each individual's account.  Prepayment is encouraged because it eliminates the daily handling of money for the child, and reduces the time the student must stand in line waiting, providing them more time to eat.  Meals may be prepaid for the week, month, or even the year at the school.  If you feel that you may qualify for free or reduced price lunches you may request an application at your respective school office.  Applications for free or reduced price lunches are processed at the Central Office, the application process is computerized, resulting in a prompt turn-around for a decision regarding your child's application status.  Student lunch prices are as follows:  lunch full price $1.75; breakfast full price .75; lunch reduced price .40; breakfast reduced price .30

The School Nutrition Program is a part of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program and it is designed to safeguard the health and well being of our nation's children, utilizing USDA commodities, and to provide nutritionally adequate meals at affordable prices to all school children.  Breakfast provides 1/4 of the recommended dietary intakes and lunch provides 1/3 of the recommended dietary intakes.  More interesting facts can be found on the National School Lunch Program (NLSP) website.
