Welcome to Covington County Schools!  On behalf of the Covington County Board of Education, it is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year.  The foundation of our system is a superintendent and school board that understands and embraces their roles in the learning community and their commitment to student learning.

Throughout the summer, many exciting projects have taken shape.....

At the central level, we have focused our attention on various areas to help bring our schools up to par with other local school systems including a needs assessment of each school's building facilities, a close inspection of our curriculum in light of new state mandates for high school diplomas, and a concentration on strategies for how our individual schools can improve state test scores.  We feel confident that by focusing on these issues early in the school year, we can provide the most effective strategies and results.

The mission of the Covington County Schools is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to be successful, productive members of society.  To address the mission, the Covington County School System will:

• Attract, develop, and retain an exceptional staff
• Provide a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment
• Address each student's individual instructional needs
• Continuously improve instructional programs
• Involve families and other community members as partners in the learning process

As we begin this new school year, please know that I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the instructional leader for Covington County Schools.  It is my goal to carry on the traditions of the Covington County School System - most importantly quality instruction by quality educators.  I am committed to providing the most effective teaching and learning environments for each individual in our system.  Together, we can foster interaction within each community to ensure that we have the best education system for our students and faculty.  I look forward to a wonderful school year!
